You want to know where to sleep in lanzarote to be able to discover the island easily while being in a nice corner? Where on the island to stay in Lanzarote to be able to go out at night without taking transport? This article is made for you.

First of all you should know that Lanzarote is part of the Canary Islands. They are called "islands of eternal spring" because the climate is mild all year round. Furthermore, the Canary Islands are only 3h30 from Paris.

This is Lanzarote and here are the tourist towns of the island: Playa Blanca, Puerto del Carmen, Arrecife, Orzola and its northern beaches, Teguise, La Santa and Famara, El Golfo (and the region of the volcanoes).

So where to stay, I will try to answer this question easily.

Here is the action plan for this article to save time (use the menu on the right to access the desired section):

  • Where to stay in Lanzarote
  • Where to stay the first night in Lanzarote

1) Where to stay in Lanzarote

First of all you have to know that you will find accommodation in Lanzarote at really interesting prices, so this is already good news! Not to mention, the climate is mild most of the year and winter is very mild.

To give you an idea of the travel times once on the island, you should know that getting to Playa Blanca from Orzola by car takes approximately 1 hour. The capital of Lanzarote is Arrecife and it is also the arrival point for tourists thanks to its airport that is located 10 minutes from the city center.

  • To the west of the island there are constant winds that delight surfers throughout the year.
  • In the north of Lanzarote you have magnificent views, the vegetation is more beautiful but the atmosphere is calmer.
  • In the South, this is precisely where you will find your happiness, in my opinion, whether you are with or without children.
  • In the southeast, this is where most of the resorts are located, combining beaches, bars and restaurants.

2) Where to stay as soon as you arrive in Lanzarote (Arrecife)

If you arrive by plane it is in Arrecife where you will land and if you arrive late I advise you to spend your first night in this small town. No need to take the road at night ...

Therefore, I advise you to stay in Arrecife for your first night in Lanzarote, either in the purple area of the Lancelot hotel, for example, which is on the beach, or in the orange area near the port in the San Ginés pension . .

Anyway, the city is still quite small and to get to the beach that you can see in the purple zone of the port (orange zone) you will need 15 minutes walking.

From the next day or when you arrive at the airport, rent a rental car and hit the road. It would be a shame stay in lanzarote without renting a vehicle! Also, here are my tips for renting a car.

3) Where on the island to stay in Lanzarote

  • So what is the best place to stay in Lanzarote?

Well, if you are with your family, that is to say with children, without a doubt it is in Playa Blanca where you will have to look for accommodation. Located 30 minutes from Lanzarote airport, Playa Blanca has 3 main beaches.

The first, which is also the smallest, is Playa Blanca, which is a stone's throw from the city center. Then you have the largest beach, Playa Dorada, which is a 10 minute walk from Playa Blanca.

Playa Dorada is perfect for children because it is very well supervised and there are very few big waves.

The third interesting beach is Playa del Papagayo, but you will need to take transport or your car (15 minutes by car) to get there. If you go remember to bring your picnic and bottled water as there is no store. It is a protected area (national park) and you will also have to pay € 3,50 to enter.

The Casa Lola apartment has an ideal location, read the comments!

Anyway, it is in the purple area that you should look for a hotel in Playa Blanca.

  • Short excursion to Fuerteventura from Playa Blanca

A nice excursion to do is to go to the island of Fuerteventura from Playa Blanca through the ferries that depart from Playa Blanca.

Address Corralejo, a very popular tourist center on the island of Fuerteventura. If you can go to El Cotillo beach (voted one of the most beautiful beaches in Europe by Tripadvisor).

4) Where to stay in Lanzarote for the party

If you go there to party, without a doubt it is in Puerto del Carmen where I advise you to look for accommodation. Located 25 minutes by car from Playa Blanca and 15 minutes by car from Arrecife.

Puerto del Carmen is the most popular town in Lanzarote for its nightlife, on the menu: Bars and discos on the beach. But it is not only that, it also has beautiful beaches to offer like the beaches: Playa Chica, Playa Grande and Playa Pocillos!

Also, if you don't have the means to move around, I advise you to stay in Puerto del Carmen.

5) Where to find a hotel in Lanzarote to surf

It is in Caleta de Famara where I advise you to look for accommodation. Also, you will find many surf schools!
