Opened in 1982, the Intrepid Sea Air & Space Museum is a museum built in the aircraft carrier USS Intrepid which was launched in 1943 during World War II. But due to bombardments and attacks, the Intrepid USS was damaged. In 1954, its use changed and it became the first American aircraft carrier able to launch planes using a steam catapult.
