This foundation houses the best collection of the internationally renowned surrealist painter and sculptor Joan Mirò. His disregard for conventional painting methods is seen in his many paintings, sculptures, and other items.

Consultancy: People who hate walking or taking the bus can take a € 3-4 taxi to Montjuic from Plaça d'Espanya. Take it out of the Paral-lel metro station for the shortest route.

CCCB (Center for Contemporary Culture of Barcelona)

Not so much art but an exhibition space for contemporary culture. There you will find the experimentation of languages and artistic codes, a meeting place for dialogue between the academy and the public.
Some exhibits have been rated from exciting to disturbing ... they used to have a wall of robot heads staring at you!
Schedules: Tuesday to Sunday (11 am-20pm), Monday closed except holidays.
Consultancy- The public study room houses an impressive collection of multilingual books and has free Wi-Fi, a great place where I spend time pretending to be intellectual while blogging about cheap Barcelona bars.
MNAC (National Art Museum of Catalonia)
Quartier: Santos | Palau Nacional | Metro: Spain (L1 egg L3) | Internet site
A journey through the last 1000 years of Catalan history through the plastic arts, recognized for their remarkable collection of paintings of Romanesque churches and their Catalan modernism. The roof offers an impressive panoramic view of Barcelona.
Schedules: Tuesday to Saturday (10 am-20pm), Sunday (10 am-15pm), closed on Mondays except holidays.
Consultancy: Be sure to bring the brochure in French to the entrance.

Antoni Tapies Foundation

It is the center of modern art created by the famous Catalan artist Antoni Tapies. Here you will find abstract works hanging in large and impressive spaces.
